  • The study is aimed at knowing whether students’ speaking ability can be increased by using Doraemon Comic of tenth grade students of Senior High School 3 Mataram in Academic year 2013/2014. This study used on experimental research design. The experiment was held through pre-test, treatment and post-test. The researcher used two groups: experiment group and control group. The population of this study is students of tenth grade SMA 3 Mataram, the students are classified into elevent classes and they are 440 students and to take the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling. The number of sample this study was 92 students.. The data were collected through speaking test. In analyzing the data, the researcher carried out an experimental study using Anova two way-test. After conducting the research, the researcher concluded that the use of comic as media in speaking is effective. It is proved by the obtained score of Anova two way-test. It is showed from sig. score that (.000) < 0.05. It made Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The mean score of Experimental group in Retelling and Telling a New Story is 59.5652 and 61.8696. While the Control group gets 44.2391. Mean score in Retelling and Telling a New Story are same 45.8261. It means that the experimental group is better than the control group and Doraemon comic is effective to increase students’ ability in speaking and telling a new story is more effecitve is taught using Doraemon comic than retelling.
