An Analysis of Students’ Needs in Learning English at Pharmacy Department of Mataram University in Academic Year 2014/2015

  • The aim of this study was to reveal necessities, wants and lacks of pharmaceutical students of Mataram University. This study used quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique of this research was population sampling (all population involved as sample). In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire with close ended question. The findings of this study show that the students’ necessity was learning English to use in their future career. Besides, they prioritize activities in the instruction given needed to foster their English use after the completion of their study. Furthermore, most of the students wanted to be able to interact with people in English at the end of the English course. Moreover, it was found that most of them lacked on listening activities, grammar application, speaking activities, conversational skill, pharmaceutical and technical activities, and pharmaceutical vocabulary.
