  • This study aimed to find out the effect of Mind Mapping Technique on students‘ ability in reading descriptive text. This study used experimental design, i.e., two- group design: control group and experimental group. The sampling technique used was population sampling (all population was taken as the sample). The population in this research was 48 students. The data were collected by using experimental procedure, i.e., pre-test, treatment and post test. Both groups were treated three times where the control group was treated by using PPP technique, the experimental group treated by using mind mapping. The control group was treated by using PPP technique because it was a common technique used by the teacher. Based on result of the t-test (value) that was higher than t-table (value) 2.401>2.021 at significant level .05 in degree of freedom (df) 48, the result of this study is that mind mapping give significant effect towards students‘ ability in descriptive text at grade VIII of MTs.
