- This study intended to analyze types and functions of lexical cohesion devices in the script of “Moana” movie. The data from the script of “Moana” movie containing the dialogues of the characters and it was analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. Data collection in this study is documentary analysis. The result of this study shows that all types of lexical cohesion devices were found in the script of “Moana” movie both of reiteration (repetition, synonym or near-synonym, super-ordinate, general word) and collocation. The most dominant lexical cohesion devices were repetition and class item which are used as nouns. This study also found the functions of each type of lexical cohesion devices in the script such as repetitions which used to explain the ideas of the expression, synonym or near-synonyms which used to avoid the readers feel boring and develop their imagination, super-ordinates which used to describe specific word to general word, general words which used to explain ambiguity of the sentences, then collocations which used to give concrete meaning of the sentences.
