- This reseacrh is designed as case study. The purpose of this research are to find out the problems faced by first year’s students of SMAN 1 Wawo in analyzing narrative texts and find out teacher perspectives in teaching narrative text for the first year’s students of SMAN 1 Wawo. The sample groups of this research are X Unggulan (favorite class) 1 SMAN 1 Wawo. The methods that use in the research are observation (COLT observation), interviews, questionnaire and test. According to the COLT observation, shows that class sections were not effective learning, that are spend either for dominant teacher talk, answering one-way task, and questions from textbooks. According to the test, shows that major of students face problems in all aspects of analyzing narrative texts (83.87%); reading problems, textual problem, linguistic problem, structure problem, and vocabulary problem. The teacher perspectives in teaching analyzing narrative texts was focus in word memorization and used Total Physician Respond (TPR) method. Teacher should find alternative technique/method. Experts suggest various methods such as fishbone diagram as the alternative solution in teaching narrative text
