  • The research was conducted at Laboratory of Immunology Universuty of Mataram since 28 September to November 13, 2010. The aim was at determining the influence of antioxidant phenolic of extracts melinjo seed in sperm diluent to preserve and protect against survivebility and motility Peranakan etawah goat spermatozoa. The method is Laboratory experimental with the material used was Peranakan etawah goat sperm by the of age years. The design of used is completely randomized design. The treatments used were 0% of control (egg yolk 2.5 ml/100 ml diluent), 25% (1.87 ml egg yolk + 0.63 mg melinjo seed extract), 50% (1.25 ml egg yolk + 1.25 mg melinjo seed extract), 75% (0.63 ml egg yolk + 1.87 mg melinjo melinjo seed extract) and 100% (2.5 mg seed extract). The observed variable is the progressive motility, survival (viability) and abnormalities of spermatozoa. The analysis of used with Anova analysis and the results of analysis differ significantly in the test with least significant difference test (LSD). The results of statistical tests showed that the use of phenolic melinjo seed extract for preserve Peranakan etawah goat spermatozoa provide a highly significant effect (P <0.01) progressive motility, survival and abnormalities of spermatozoa peranakan etawah goat. Concentration of 25% and 50% gave optimal results than the concentration of 75% and 100%, and controls in the preserve Peranakan etawah goat of spermatozoa. Phenolics from the seed melinjo extract (Gnetum gnemon) can be used as a source of antioxidants for the preserve and protection as well as to maintain the survival and motility Peranakan etawah goat of spermtozoa at 50% concentration.
