- This research aims to find out the illocutionary acts used in The Vow movie. Specifically, this resesrch focus on identifying what types of illocutionary used based on Searle’s classification of speech acts and the context and investigate the most dominant illocutionary acts used by the mai characters in the movie. This research used the script of The Vow movi containing dialogues as the source of data. The result of the research shows the 4 illocutionary acts are produced by the main characters in The Vow movie. They are representatives, directives, expressives and commissives wit the total 109 illocutionary acts. Based on the findings, the most dominant illocutionary acts used is representatives illocutionary acts with 32% However, there is no declarative illocutionary acts found in the movie.
