- Techniques of Teaching Speaking Applied by English Teacher of Senior high School in SMAN 1 Lembar in Academic Year 2010/2011 was aimed to fine out the techniques applied by teachers in teaching speaking. The subject of this study was English teacher of senior high school in SMAN 1 Lembar. The data had been collected through classroom observation and interview, from interview and observation the researcher found there are five English teachers in SMAN 1 Lembar and the teachers used some techniques in teaching speaking English, those techniques are Discussion, Role Play, Dialogue and reporting. From those techniques Discussion and Dialogue are very frequently used in teaching speaking English. The teachers’ reason used Discussion and Dialogue in teaching speaking as follows; Discussion and Dialogue are easy for teacher to increase the students’ ability in teaching speaking. Those techniques make the students more creative and make students enjoy in learning.
