  • Abstract: This research is motivated by the value of learning outcomes in science learning subject matter magnetism class IX.4 in Pekanbaru 12 Public Middle School, with an average daily test score of 65.93% with 38 students, the low learning outcomes are due to the method used by the teacher only lectures and question and answer. So it is necessary to have fun and active learning, namely the TGT learning model. These problems are discussed through classroom action research conducted through 2 cycles with each cycle of stages being planning, action, observation and reflection. The results showed that, with TGT learning it was found to improve student learning outcomes on the subject of magnetism using the Teams Games Tournament learning model in class IX.4 in Pekanbaru 12 Public Middle School 2016/2017 Academic Year, with classical provisions of 55.26% (21 students) , experienced an increase in the first cycle 71.05% (27 students), and in the second cycle reached 34 students or 89.47%. Keywords: Teams Games Tournament, magnet Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi nilai hasil belajar pada pembelajaran IPA pokok bahasan kemagnetan kelas IX.4 di SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru, dengan nilai rata-rata ulangan harian yaitu 65,93% dengan jumlah siswa 38, rendahnya hasil belajar tersebut dikarenakan metode yang digunakan guru hanya ceramah dan tanya jawab. Sehingga perlu adanya pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan mengaktifkan yaitu dengan model pembelajaran TGT. Permasalahan tersebut dibahas melalui penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan melalui 2 siklus dengan setiap siklus tahapannya adalah perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, dengan pembelajaran TGT ternyata meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pokok bahasan kemagnetan menggunakan model pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament di kelas IX.4 di SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru Tahun Pelajaran 2016/2017, dengan ketentuan klasikal 55,26% (21 siswa), mengalami kenaikan pada siklus I 71,05% (27 siswa), dan pada siklus II mencapai 34 siswa atau 89,47%.
