  • ABSTRACT FAISAL PINEM. The Effect of Minimum Wages and Education Degree to Poverty Level in Central Java 2008-2012. Education of Cooperative Economics, Economics and Administration, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta, 2015. This research aimed to determine whether the minimum wages and the education degree has an influence to the level of poverty in Central Java. The research used expo facto method, by using panel data which combines time series of the years 2008-2012 and cross section of 35 districts/cities in Central Java. The data which presented each year obtained from BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics). This research used panel data regression model obtained random effect equation results LnKMS = 18.577 to 0.387 LnUMK - 0.818 LnEDU. Based on the simultan analysis, the minimum wages and education degree affect significantly to the level of poverty in Central Java. Based on the results of partial analysis, the minimum wages affect negative significantly to the level of poverty, and education degree affect positive significantly against the level of poverty. Influence variations of two independent variables can be determined based on the R2 value of 0.23. Thus, 23% variation in the level of poverty was affected by the minimum wages and education degree and remaining were influenced by other factors outside the research model.
