  • Spodoptera exigua Hubner is one of the important pests that attack shallot plant. The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of several dosages of gadung tuber extract for controlling S. exigua (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on shallot plant of lembah palu varieties. This research was conducted from November 2016 to January 2017 in Oloboju village, subdistrict of Sigi Biromaru, district of Sigi, Central Sulawesi province. The experimental design used in this research was randomized block design with 6 treatments and 4 repetitions. Observation variables of this research were observation of population, observation of pests attack intensity, and production ofshallot plant of lembah palu varieties. The results showed that the highest number of pest population density was found on crops without treatment (P0) with score of 27.73 pests per 20 crops and the lowest number of pest population density was found on (P5) with score of 7.81 pests per 20 crops. Observation on pests attack intensity revealed that the highest attack intensity was found on crops without treatment (P0) with score of 25.64% and the lowest attack intensity was found on (P5) with score of 9.40%. The highest and the lowest production of shallot plant of lembah palu varietieswere 7.82tones per ha (found on P5) and 4.13 tone per ha (found on P0) respectively.
