  • The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of various rates of liquid waste generated from oil palm industry on soil chemical characteristics and growth of mustard plant (Brassica juncea). A completely randomized design (RAL) was used with seven rates of the liquid waste as treatments i.e. 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 ml/polybag. Each treatment was replicated three times. Soil pH (6.69) and soil P-available (18.38 ppm) were found highest in the in the 400 ml/polybag treatment whereas soil N-total (0.27%), soil K-available (2.03 cmol(+)kg-1 and soil C-organic were highest in the 500ml/polybag treatment. The plants in the 100 ml/polybag treatment grew better than the other treatment with leaf number and plant height were 15.67 and 34.07 cm, respectively. The effective rate of the liquid waste that can increase mustard plant (Brassica juncea) growth was 200 ml/polybag.
