- Textbook is one of learning medias which plays an important role in education. Considering the importance of foreign language textbook function as a media and learning resources, it is necessary to evaluate foreign language textbook to find out the suitability or unsuitability of textbooks in achieving teaching objectives which have been determined. The method applied in this study is the evaluation method with content analysis techniques. ln this study the theoretical basis of the textbook submitted by the experts is explored and developed by researchers in the form of instruments construct on evaluating a foreign language textbook which will be tested in the Japanese language textbook used at the Faculty of Literature Japanese Program of Darma Percada University. The pesearch instrument is developed into four major components, namely: materiaUcontent, language skills, presentation, and language/readability. ln this article will be examined the textbook of "Minno no Nihongo Shokyu f in terms of materials by presenting the examples which represent them.
