- Cryptocarya massoia is a traditional medicine plant used for healing fever, anti spasmodic during pregnant and also as seasoning. This plant is also a source of essential oil for perfume industry which can be used as a source of antimicrobial compound. The objectives of this research are to know the physical properties and antimicrobial activities of cryptocarya bark essential oil. The physical properties assay including density and solubility in ethanol 80%, while the antimicrobial assay was done by using disc diffusion method. The results indicated that the density and solubility in 80% ethanol of cryptocarya bark essential oil are 0.98 and 1:1 in respectively. Moreover, the increasing of essential oil concentration (0-10%) will increase the inhibition zone on the growth of tested bacteria. The Minimum inhibitor concentrations of essential oil to Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were 0.29, 0.39, 0.54 and 0.6%, respectively.
