- Sago(Metroxylon sp.) is one of the staple food which naturally grown at Papua. Rich in carbohydrate content makes this plant useful as a material for food and non food industries mostly by Papuans. However, the limitation of postharvest equipment used is still the main problem. Local people still use traditional equipment which is less in capacity and profit. The objectives of this study are to evaluate both financial and ergonomic of sago mechanical grater at Teluk Wondama. The machine was easy to construct and operate with enough dimensions for matured individual user. The analyses results showed that the mechanical grater is sufficient and profitable enough to be used at sago production with BCR and NPV values at 1.06 and Rp 9.162.000, respectively.
