  • Drymis plants are used as medicine in Arfak ethnic, Papua, to increase aphrodisiac. These plants grow in Arfak mountains and continuously harvested by local people from the forest without carrying out their cultivation which consequently endanger their existence. The objectives of this study were to analyze the chemical content and to provide scientific support to local knowledge about the use of Drymis as aphrodisiac. This study used GC-MS method to analyze the chemical content. There were 3 species of Drimys found on 1200 m from sea level, namely Drymis winterii. Forst, Drymis piperita. Hook, and Drymis beccariana Gibbs which contain stigmasterol, sitosterol and phenantren 9,10-dimetyl function in improving testosterone in various concentration. The morphology and secondary metabolized compound contained in this plant significantly were affected by its growing environment.
