  • Introduction: The morbidity and mortality of Diabetes mellitus is very high. The symptoms can make the productivity of the patients become low. Morinda citrifolia L. is one of the plants that are believed to cure the Diabetes mellitus disease. The aim of this research is to figure out the effect of Morinda Citrifolia L. extract from the amount of blood glucose on mice which is induced by Alloxan. Methods:  The method of this research uses the prospective experimental research with complete randomized design. The experiment used 25 Swiss-Webster strain male mice which had been induced by alloxan. The 25 mice were divided randomly into 5 groups (n=5) and were given treatment during 7 days (Morinda Citrifolia L. extract 400 mg/kgBW; 800 mg/kgBW; 1,6 g/kgBW), CMC (control), and Glibenclamide (compared). The data was analyzed with ANAVA, and proceeded by average different test Tukey HSD. Results: The blood glucose reduction after being given the extract were 27,84%, 34.73%, 42.97%, respectively. The groups of extract comparing with control showed the significant difference (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The extract of Morinda citrifolia L. can reduce the amount of blood glucose.
