- Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease that can seriously affect on the health, quality and the life expectancy of the patient. Azadirachta indica A. Juss is one of the plants that is believed to scrutinize the Diabetes mellitus. The aim of this research is to figure out the effect of Azadirachta indica A.Juss. to reduce the amount of blood glucose on mice which induced by alloxan. Methods: The prospective experimental research uses complete randomized design (RAL) with mice which had been induced by alloxan. Fasting blood glucose level examined after 2 weeks, the mice was devided randomly into 5 groups and were given treatment dose 1 (150 mg/kgBW), dose 2 (300 mg/kgBW), dose 3 (600 mg/kgBW), CMC 1% and Glibenclamide respectively. The data were analyzed with ANOVA, and to be proceeded with Tukey HSD). Results: The percentage of assay of blood glucose reduction are 37.52% (mimba dose 1), 37.03% (mimba dose 2), 42.04% (mimba dose 3). The groups of extract show significantly differences (p<0.01). Conclusion: Azadirachta indica A. Juss extract can reduce blood glucose level with equivalent potential as glibenclamide.
