  • Introduction: To ensure safety of using herbs in treatment needs to be done a series of toxicity tests include acute toxicity, subacute and chronic. Objective: to achieve these things already done research on acute toxicity study of plant extract Nothopanax scutellarium. Merr. on male mice. Methods: Parameter measured were LD50, the body weight, water intake, urin output, the relative weight of the liver, heart and kidney. Results: The toxicity evaluation by oral administration of etanolic extract of Nothopanax scutellarium. Merr.'s leaves showed that the etanolic extract of Nothopanax scutellarium. Merr.'s leaves was relative harmless (LD50>15 g/kg BW). The delay toxic effect was seen by any significant changes in body weight on several dasy observation, any significant changes in heart and kidney relative weight. Conclusion: the etanolic extract of Nothopaanax scutellarium. Merr.'s leaves are relative harmless and influence relative weight of heart and kidney.
