  • Introduction: Infection is a major cause of health problems in Indonesia. One of the pathogenic bacteria that cause infections are Staphyloccus aureus. Objective: is to find an alternative agent to cope with Staphylococcus aureus using infusum green tea (Camellia sinensis) to determine in vitro antibacterial activity and minimum inhibitory levels. Methods: This research was true experimental study with post-test only control group design. It used green tea (Camellia sinensis) infusion as sample and Staphyloccoccus aureus as bacteria that was tested. The antibactreial activity experiment used dilution method. It used 10 tubes of green tea infusion with concentration 50%, 25%, 12,5%, 6,25%, 3,2%, 1,6%, 0,8%, 0,4%, 0,2% and positive control. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was determined by visual to see turbidity compared with control, after all of the tubes had incubated in 37C  for 24 hours.Result: Bacteria growth indicated by presence of turbidity from 7th tube which has infusion concentration 0,8% until 10th tube as positive control at first replication, while at second and third replication there is turbidity from 8th tube which has infusion concentration 0,4% until 10th tube. This experiment was replicated 3 times. Conclusion: infusum green tea (Camellia sinensis) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus in vitro with the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration of his (MIC) was 1.6% in the first replication, 0.8% in the second and third replication.
