  • The purpose of this study was to uncover and analyze the influence of work motivation on employees' performance at Bappeda (city's development planning board) in Simeulue District. The research question in this study is "does the work motivation influence the employees' performance at Bappeda in Simeulue District?". While in the proposed hypothesis, there was influence of the work motivation on the employees' performance at Bappeda in Simeulue District. The theory of motivation which was tested is a theory of motivation by Abraham Maslow (1954) with phyciological needs, security needs, social needs, the need for self-esteem, and self-actualization needs. On the other hand, the theory of performance in this study used the theory of Robbins (2009). To test that hypothesis, the research method that used was survey method by taking a census. Then the data were tabulated and analyzed using path analysis with computational tools SPSS version 18.0 for Windows. The results showed the five dimensions of the need have a positive influence on employees' performance in at Bappeda in Simeulue District. If the test is done simultaneously (together) with dimension of physiological needs (Xl), security (X2), social (X3), self-esteem (X4), and selfactualization (X5), jointly influences the employees' performance at Bappeda in Simeulue district that is 84.8%. While the remaining is 15.2% and was explained by residual variables or other variables which are not studied (epsilon) in this study,such as supervision, leadership, etc.
