- Indigenous people have various kind of knowledge of their harmoniuos relationship with their surrounding environment. They are able to thrive by using any available natural resources without destructing their complex ecosystem. Meanwhile, economic development program tends to promote economics growth without considering sustainability. People try to exploit as many as possible any available resources without considering any further damage. There should be an effort to integrate the indegenous knowledge into education system to preserve the knowledge. The integration of indigenous knowledge into education must be proceeded by selection and collection of the knowledge. Universitas Terbuka can support this education system by preparing a specially designed learning material and operating a network of distance learning facilities.
