  • Bawang tiwai (Eleutherine americana Merr) is a herbaceous plant, living in groups have green leaves with a pointed leaf tip reaching ± 40 cm in height and has a red colored bulbs, roots brown, white flowers. In general, given the name of onion Sabrang but each region give different names, the Java (bawang Sabrang) Sumatra and Lampung (bawang ship), East Kalimantan (bawang tiwai / forest / bromot), West Kalimantan, South and Central (dayak bawang). Contain chemicals, among others elutherinon, isoleutherinon, eletheriol, tannins, flavonoids, aldehydes ketones, carboxylic acids, glycosides, phenols, carbohydrates and proteins.
