  • The main purpose of the study is to measure the effect of Audio Visual video on writing descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMKN 4Palangka Raya. The type of study was quasi-experimental especially non-randomized control group, pre-test post-test design and the writer used quantitative approach in finding out to answer the problem, the data collecting technique used test and documentation. There were two classes of study namely X Multimedia I as experimental group and X Multimedia 2 as control group with the total number students which X Multimedia I class the total students are 25 and X Multimedia 2 class the total students are 25. The sample of study is determined using cluster sampling technique. Both groups were given pre-test before treatment. Then, the studentsof experiment group was taught by using Audio Visual video mediaand control group was taught using pictures media. Finally, the writer gave post-test to both groups. The normality of the test was Pre Test and PostTest of the experiment group in Kolmogorov-Smirnov was higher than level of significance alpha used or r = 0.145> 0.05 (Pre Test) and r = 0.276> 0.05 (Post Test) so that the distributions are normal. The homogeneity (probably value/critical value) from pre test and post test of the experiment group on homogeneity of variances in sig column is known that p-value is 0.090. The data in this study fulfilled homogeneity since the r value is higher 0,090> 0.05. In the result of hypothesis was using calculation of T-test with SPSS 18.0. The result of t-test with SPSS 18.0 calculation found the calculated value (tobseved) was greater than ttable) at 1% and 5% significance level or 2.01<4.046 > 2.68. it was interpreted than alternative hypothesis (ha) stated that students writing descriptive texttaught usinginteractive video media gain better score than the student writing descriptive text taught using pictures media was accepted and the null hypothesis (h0) students writing descriptive texttaught using Audio Visual video media does not gain better score than the students taught writing without using Audio Visual video media was rejected. It meant that Audio Visual video media gives effect on the students’ writing descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMKN 4Palangka Raya.
