  • This thesis is entitled “Examining Teachers’ Strategies in Developing Student’s Vocabulary at the Junior High School in Almuslimun”. The purpose of this study is to find out the strategies used by teachers and their difficulties in developing students’ vocabulary at the second grade of junior high school in Almuslimun. In attaining the data, the writer used two techniques, observation and interview. The observation was conducted to obtain the strategies used by the teacher in teaching vocabulary, while the interview was used to gain the opinion of the teachers about teaching strategies in developing students’ vocabulary. The interview was also used to add the information which has the researcher got from the observation. The participants of this study are three teachers who teach English in different classes of second grade at junior high school in Almuslimun of academic year 2016/2017. Based on the data attained from the techniques used the writer concluded that teaching strategies used by the teacher in increasing student’s vocabulary were memorizing, use of dictionary, and playing game by using card. Further, the difficulties faced by teacher in teaching vocabulary to students were passive students and students determined used of first language. Keywords: teaching strategy; student’s vocabulary
