This research is aimed to answer the questions whether prediction strategy improve students’ ability in reading comprehension, and to know students’ responses after learning reading through prediction strategy. The researcher conducted this study at SMPN 1 Indrapuri, Aceh Besar by applying three techniques; experimental teaching, test, and questionnaire. This study is a true experimental study that entails random technique sampling. The results of the research were analyzed by using several statistic formulas. According to the results of the study, using prediction strategy could improve students’ ability in reading comprehension. It was proven by the improvement of the mean score of the experimental class which was shown higher (40.2 to 72.25) than the mean score in the control class (42.9 to 51.45). Moreover, based on the analysis of the questionnaire, most of the students gave positive response to prediction strategy.
