- Speaking has many problematic and remains as measure of people in learning English, there are a lot of studies conducted in order to solve speaking teaching learning problems. One of the most popular topic is using picture media in improving students’ speaking ability. This thesis is aimed to know the strengths and the weaknesses of the five theses and those researchers recommendation on the use of picture in improving students’ speaking ability. Consequently, this research is a library research with literary data collection. In analyzing the data, the writer used the theory of Miles and Huberman (1996). The findings shown that the five theses have strengths and weaknesses. The strengths of those theses appeared on the representation of the information included, the research design and methodology, and the interpreted of the finding. The weaknesses of those thesis appeared on the writing format and untruths worthy sources. And from all theses that already reviewed recommended to use picture in teaching speaking because it lead the students being motivated to learn, create good atmosphere in the classroom and attract the students to learn English as well.
