- The ancient manuscript management by the government was limited to the collections owned by the documentation centers. Meanwhile the ancient manuscript owned by the community, both individuals and tribal, was still ignored. Actually most of the ancient manuscripts in Indonesia are kept by the individual as an inheritance from generation to generation. This paper showed the current condition of the ancient manuscripts on palm leaf in Bali. By using qualitative study, in-depth interview and observation, we explored the efforts to collate, manage, conserve, and preserve of ancient manuscripts belonging to individual. Furthermore, this paper describes the barriers, problems, the roles of stakeholder as well as future planning for maintenance. The paper also explained the tradition of ancient manuscripts living in the community.
