- Background: Hypertension was a condition is person which experience in crease blood pressurein high normal on examination of blood pressure. The disease was categorized as the silentdisease, which can shorten life someone as well as increasing the chances had a heart attack,stroke, vision disorders, damage kidney function, and swelling large arteries in the body. Oneof non-pharmacological therapies in the treatment of hypertension was Benson relaxationtechniques, which serves to lower the sympathetic nerve activity and increases theparasympatic of nerves work. So that it made vasodilatation in the some of blood vessels.Purpose: The purpose of this research was to know the effect of benson relaxation techniqueson blood pressure in elderly hypertension patients.Methods: This reseach was a Quantitative reseach, this type of research was a preeksperimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. The data was taken from 30respondens by using purpose sampling method. Data analysis techniques used Wilcoxon SighTest.Result: The result of this research was there was the effect of Benson relaxation techniqueson blood pressure in elderly hypertension patients. The data statistic used wilcoxon test withsignificant level á = 0,05 with p = 0,000 where p < á was 0,000 < 0,05 so Ho was rejected.Conclusion: There was a Benson relaxation technique effects on blood pressure in elderlyhypertension patients in Elderly Health Center Larasati Hamled Wiyoro BaturetnoBanguntapan Bantul Yogyakarta.Keywords: Benson relaxation techniques, blood pressure, elderly, hypertension.of labor
