Common Errors in Writing Note Taking Made by The Seventh Semester Students at English Department of UIN Antasari Academic Year 2016/ 2017

- Writing is an important skill in English language learning. In writing, the students usually make many mistakes. Such as in writing note taking, usually the students make mistake in spelling, grammar and punctuation. Therefore, the researcher is interested to know the common errors in writing note taking made by the seventh semester students at English Department of UIN Antasari Academic Year 2017/ 2018. This research is conducted with two research questions. They are: (1) what are the errors in writing note taking made by the seventh semester of Englisgh Department at Antasari State Islamic University Academic year 2017/ 2018; and (2 ) what is the most students’ common error in writing note taking made by the seventh semester of English Department at Antasari State Islamic University Academic Year 2016/ 2017. The population of the research was 112 students of the seventh semester students of English Department at UIN Antasari with the sample is 25 respondents or 20 % from population. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method in this research. Written test and documentary are used as the instruments for collecting the data. After the data gathered, the data then analyzed by descriptively and qualitatively. The result of the research indicates that students make errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation. While, the most common error is in spelling. It required 88 %. It is followed by grammar with 84%. Punctuation is 40 %. The total number of error is 142 errors. It is divided with 79 errors for spelling, 52 errors for grammar and 11 errors for punctuation.
