Humor or joke cannot be separated from language because it must be conveyed through it. Afterwards, this research aimed to understand humor in English deductively from Stand-up comedy. This study is done to answer three problem statements: 1) Which utterances make audience laugh? 2) What factors of each utterance causing laughter of audience? 3) Why are those utterances funny? The subject of this research is the stand-up comedy show of Trevor Noah in Melbourne, consisting of the comic and the audiences. The object of this research is the laughter-causing utterances he said in the show and the audiences’ response which transcribed from video downloaded from YouTube with the duration 7 minutes and 29 seconds. From the transcript were taken the laughter-causing utterances and analyzed the data through two steps: 1) describing the utterance and matching the factors of laughter causing utterances as listed. 2) analyzing the utterances causing the audiences’ laughter descriptively and qualitatively. In this paper, the writer found 49 laughter causing utterances, and 13 factors out of 15 factors that caused the utterances funny. The writer found that those utterances funny because the natural betrayal that happened in every utterance
