This thesis describes about analysis student’s error in using preposition of the second grade students of MTsN Banjar Selatan 2 in academic year 2009/2010. The problems of this research are formulated as follows: 1) How many do the degree of the second grade student’s error in using preposition of MTsN Banjar Selatan 2. 2) What types of errors which are usually made by the second grade students in using preposition and 3) what factors that influencing the students’ error in using preposition. Based on the formulation above, the purpose of this research are to know about the degree of students’ error in using preposition, types of error and some factors that influencing the students’ error in using preposition of the second grade students of MTsN Banjar Selatan 2 in academic year 2009/2010. The population of this research is 152 students. The technique sample that used in this research is proportional random sampling. They are VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, and VIII D grade about 38 students or 25% from population. The data of this research are processed through editing, coding, scoring, tabulating, and interpretation. Then all data be analyzed by using descriptively and qualitatively and concluded by inductive method. The result of this research indicates that the second grade students in using preposition is in very high error category. Then the types of error which are usually made by the second grade students in using preposition are in preposition place and time. The most error which is made by the second grade students in using preposition is preposition time. And factors influencing the students’ error in using preposition are divided into two factors; they are linguistic factors and non linguistic factors.
