- This research describes aboutthe students’ ability in translating English Text into Indonesian and their difficulties at the sixth semester of English Department at Antasari State Institute for Islamic Studies Banjarmasin Academic year 2013/2014. The population of the sixth semester students of English Department of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty of Antasari State Institute for Islamic Studies Banjarmasin Academic year 2013/2014 is 104 students. The sample of the research is 30 students.The object of the research is the students’ ability in translating English text into Indonesian and their difficulties at the sixth semester of English Department at Antasari State Institute for Islamic Studies Banjarmasin Academic year 2013/2014. In collecting the data, the techniques that used by the writer arewritten test, questionnaire, and interview.Then, all the data are analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The result of this research that the ability of the sixth semester students of English Department in translating English text into Indonesian is in Good Category, because the average of the test result is 70.1%. However, students still have some difficulties in translating English text into Indonesian especially because of less vocabulary mastery.
