The problem formulations of this research are: 1). How is the students’ mastery of English materials for Islamic elementary school of the sixth semester students in PGMI Department of IAIN Antasari academic year 2012/2013, 2). What are the most students’ common errors in mastering English materials for Islamic elementary school of the sixth semester students in PGMI Department of IAIN Antasari academic year 2012/2013. The subject of this research is 77 students of the sixth semester of PGMI Department, the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training, IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin academic year 2012/2013. The objects of this research are the students’ mastery of English materials for Islamic elementary school of the sixth semester of PGMI Department and the most students’ common errors in mastering English materials for Islamic elementary school. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as observation, test, questionnaire, interview and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into four phases: checking, scoring, classifying, and interpreting. Then, all the data are analyzed descriptively. The result of this research shows that the students’ ability in mastering English materials for Islamic elementary school of the sixth semester students in PGMI department, The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training of IAIN Antasari academic year 2012/2013 is in Fair category because the average of the test result is 55,29. There are three common errors that the students mostly made, they are in question under the topic of tenses, comparative and superlative degree, and expression of quantity. Whereas the factors that influence students’ score are students’ educational background, lack of interest and motivation, and limited knowledge of English.
