Correlation of Teacher’s Ways in Teaching Using Colored Pictures and The Seventh Grade Students’ Mastery in Vocabulary

  • This research describes about correlative study between teacher’s ways in teaching using colored pictures and students’ mastery in vocabulary. The problems of the research are: 1) How is teacher’s ways in teaching by using pictures?. 2) What is the function of colored pictures in teaching-learning vocabulary process?. and 3) Is there any correlation of teacher’s ways in teaching using pictures and students’ mastery in vocabulary?. Population of the research is all students and an English teacher of MTSN 1 Barambai academic year 2013/2014. The sample of the research is 40 students which taken by using convenience sampling technique. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as questionnaire, interview, observation, documentary and written vocabulary test. Then all of the data that have been collected are processed using quantitative statistic method. The writer uses r-test to measure the correlation study to get final the result. The result of the research indicates that the students’ questionnaire of their interested in teaching-learning process is 3280 and the students’ vocabulary test is3600. The result of the calculation using r-test is 0.730 with r table at df/db 38 in the significance standard 5% = 0.320 and also 1% = 0.413. Thus, is r count is higher than r table. It means that Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) is accepted and Ho (Zero Hypothesis) is rejected. By the result, there is positive and significant correlation between Teacher’s teaching ways using colored pictures and students’ mastery in vocabulary. Students’ mastery in vocabulary is 0.730 which in strong category.
