Based on the background above, the writer conducts a research entitle: Some Techniques in Teaching English Vocabulary in the Eighth Grade at State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 2 Gambut Academic Year 2008/2009 The problem was what techniques were using by teacher in Teaching English Vocabulary in the Eighth Grade at State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 2 Gambut Academic Year 2008/2009. The purposes of this study were (1) To know some techniques which is used by teachers in teaching English vocabulary in the eighth grade at State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 2 Gambut Academic Year 2008/2009. (2) To know what factors that influenced the some techniques. The subjects of this study were two teachers of the Eighth Grade at State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 2 Gambut Academic Year 2008/2009 and the total number of student were 144 people. The object of this research was some techniques in Teaching English Vocabulary that being used by the eighth grade teachers at State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 2 Gambut Academic Year 2008/2009. In colecting the data, the writer used some techniques as follows: observation, interview, questionaire, and documentary. Then all of the data that have been collected are processed through editing, coding, and interpretation. In analysis the data, the writer used descriptive qualitative and making conclusion by inductive method. The result of this research shows that some techniques in teaching English vocabulary that being used by the eighth grade teachers at State Islamic Junior High School (MTsN) 2 Gambut Academic Year 2008/2009 was quite good, and it was influence by some factors they were the teacher has enough knowledge about teaching vocabulary (English), teacher was an experienced teacher in teaching english, the teacher have experiences in teaching english, the quite interest, eventhough the teaching facilities available at school didn’t support the using of this techniques.
