M.Pd.I This research is intended to know how is the use of polite request by the fourth and the fifth year at Darul Istiqamah Barabai Central Hulu Sungai, academic year 2008/2009. Formulation of the problem are: 1). How is the knowledge in polite request by the fourth and the fifth year at Darul Istiqamah Islamic Boarding School Barabai Central Hulu Sungai, Academic Year 2008/2009. 2). How is the Use of Polite Request in daily (informal) and formal by the fourth and the fifth year students at Darul Istiqamah Islamic Boarding School Barabai central Hulu Sungai academic Year 2008/2009. The writer means by word “How” that how is the activeness of the fourth and the fifth year at Darul Istiqamah Islamic Boarding School in the usage of polite request, while in the class or out of class and many factors that influence. Subject of the research is all of the fourth and the fifth year at Darul Istiqamah Islamic Boarding School Barabai Central Hulu Sungai, Academic Year 2008/2009 and object of this research is the usage of polite request. To collect the data the writer uses some techniques such as; questionnaire, interview, observation, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into four phases: editing, coding, tabulating, and interpreting. All the collected and processed data are analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The conclusion is taken by inductive method. The result of this research indicates that the knowledge of the fourth and the fifth year in polite request and the use is in fair category. This because of no rule to obligate the use of polite request by language section, which is in environment factor.
