Keywords: Strategies, teacher, certification This thesis describes the teaching strategies used by English teachers who have English certification at state Islamic senior high schools Banjarmasin and the students’ responses of it. The problem formulation are: what are the strategies used by English teachers who have English certification at state Islamic senior high schools Banjarmasin and how is the students’ response on the strategies used by the teachers who have English certification at state Islamic senior high schools Banjarmasin. The subject of this research are 3 English teachers from state Islamic senior high school 1, 2 English teachers from state Islamic senior high school2, and also 2 English teachers state Islamic senior high school3 with the total numbers 7 teachers. While the objects of this research are the strategies used by English teachers who have English certification. To collect the data, writer uses some techniques such as observation and questionnaire. Data processing of this research is divided into three phases: editing, coding and data interpretation. Then, all data are analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The conclusion is taken by inductive method. The result of this research shows thatCertified English teachers had a lot of variations of the method and techniques in teaching learning English and also they used appropriate techniques for material, but the writer found that some of them still used the wrong techniques for some material that they taught, some of them did not choose the right techniques for explain the material. For media, certified English teachers did not used variety of media, most of them just used handbook on teaching learning process, but just some of them used a lot of media on teaching learning English. For students’ responses, most of certified English teacher got Sufficient Category, so the teaching learning process with certified English teacher was good.
