- The problem formulations of this research are: how well is the students’ skimming skill at seventh semester students of English department students at Antasari State Institute for Islamic studies Banjarmasin academic year 2014/2015?What are the students’ problems in mastery skimming skill at seventh semester students of English department students at Antasari State Institute for Islamic studies Banjarmasin academic year 2014/2015? The subjects in this study are 30 students of the seventh semester students of English Department at Antasari State Institute for Islamic studies Banjarmasin academic year 2014/2015. While the objectof this research are the students’ skimming skill and their problems in skimming an English text of the seventh semester students at Antasari State Institute for Islamic Studies Banjarmsain. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as, test (written test), questionnaire, and documentary. Data processing in this study is divided into three phases: editing, coding, and tabulating. Then, all the data are analyzed descriptively, quantitatively and concluded inductively. The result of this research states that the students’ skimming skill is faircategory; it can be seen from calculating meanMx=46.66 from 30 students.The result also shares that the students’ problems in skimming skill test are the students have problems with the questions number 2, 6, 7, 8, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25. Based the result, it means that the most difficult topic is about Technical English: Living without Energy.
