Keywords: Material, development, techniques The problem formulation of this research are: What are the material development technique that used by English teacher of the eighth grade at Islamic Junior High School Muthi’ul Huda Hatungun, and how does she apply the material development techniques in the classroom. The subject of this research is the English teacher of the eighth grade at Islamic Junior High School Muthi’ul Huda Hatungun academic year 2014/2015. The object of the research is the material development techniques that used by the English teacher of Islamic Junior High School Muthi’ul Huda Hatungun. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as interview, observation, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into four phases; editing, coding and classification, tabulating, and data interpretation. Then, all data are analyzed descriptively, qualitatively, and concluded inductively. The result of this research states that the material development that used by the English teacher at the eighth grade are addition, deletion, modifying and re-ordering/re-sequencing. Moreover, the result of observation sheet scores of teacher’s performance in applying the techniques in the classroom is 71, 33 which could be interpreted and categorized in good category.
