the texts in reading comprehension at the sixth semester of English Department
and what are their difficulties to infer the texts in reading comprehension at the
sixth semester of English Department.
The objectives of this research are to know students’ ability to infer the
texts in reading comprehension at the sixth semester of English Department and to
know their difficulties to infer the texts in reading comprehension at the sixth
semester of English Department. The subject of this research is all students at the
sixth semester of English Department academic year 2013/2014 and the writer
takes the whole subject as object that will be taken from three classes by total 87
students. To collect the data the writer use objective test. Then, all the data are
analyzed descriptively and quantitatively and concluded inductively.
The result of this research shows that the students’ ability to infer the texts
in reading comprehension is fair category with mean score 55.4. This research
also shows that the students’ difficulty to infer the texts in reading comprehension
based on the result of the test is the question number 5 is the most difficult one of
5 questions with 81 students could not answer correctly that included into difficult
category. It can be seen from the table 4.3, the question number 5 is mostly
difficult question (ID = 0.074).
