The Correlation Between Reading Interest of English Short Story, Vocabulary Mastery and Their Reading Comprehension of Eight Grade at SMPN 2 Kertak Hanyar

- This research desrcibes the correlation between reading interest of English short story, vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension of eight grade at SMPN 2 Kertak Hanyar academic year 2017/2018, this reseach questions were: (1) Is there any correlation between students’ reading interest of English Short story and their reading comprehension?, (2) Is there any correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension?, (3) Is there any correlation between students’ reading interest of English short story, vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension? There are two hypotheses in this research, the hypotheses were (1) Ha: There is a correlation between students’ reading interest of English short story, vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension, (2) Ho: There is no correlation between students’ reading interest of English short story, vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension. The population in this research were 84 and the sample were 40 students of eight grade at SMPN 2 Kertak Hanyar. The data were collected by some techniques, they were questionnaires and test. Then, all the data analyzed quantitatively and concluded inductively. The result of the research, (1) There was a corelation between reading interest of English short story and reading comprehension. (2) There was a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. (3) There was a correlation between reading interest of English short story, vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension.
