This research discussed about Assessment Technique of Teaching English for Young Learner in The Fifth Grade Elementary School At SD Tahfidzul Qur’an Terpadu An-najah Cindai Alus. The formulation of the research problems were: 1) What kind of assessment techniques were used by English teacher in Elementary school? 2) Why did teacher choose those assessment techniques? 3) what problems were faced by the teacher in using technique while teaching? Teacher and students who are studied were one English teacher and 17 students of fifth grade. The research design in this study was qualitative research. The subjects of this research are one teacher and all the students of SD Tahfidzul Qur’an Terpadu An-najah Cindai Alus fifth grade which consists 17 students, and the object of the research is the assessment technique that the teacher used in English teaching. For data collection the writer technique uses observation, interview and documentation. To process data in this research is divided into four phases, namely: editing, coding, tabulating and data interpretation. The research findings were that 1) there are three kinds of assessment techniques that teacher used in teaching English; those are Giving reward, Portfolios, and Classroom test such as vocabulary matching, observe the picture and complete the dialogues, fill in the blanks, true or false, multiple choice, arrange a sentence and picture matching. 2) In general the teacher believe that the assessment techniques that used has meaning from various aspects such as for students, students can know how far they have successed in following the lesson given by the teacher. 3) The problems faced the teacher lies based on the students characteristic, young learner love enjoying themselves and they have a very short attention and concentration span
