- Anxiety is an uncomfortable feeling taking form as an uncertainty of something that has not happened, which is followed by physical responses of the body. This study aims to describe the anxiety disorder level and the factors that triggered the anxiety of the 2007’s students of the Faculty of Medicine in “X” University. This research is descriptive observational, with the data collected from a survey and some interviews. Eighty students were interviewed using a Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS) test and then they were given a questionnaire. The result of the HARS test shows that 43.75% of the students had no anxiety, 27.5% had mild anxiety, 17.5% had moderate anxiety, 7.5% had severe anxiety and 3.75% had very severe anxiety. The answers to the questionnaire denote that parental factors were dominant in triggering the students’ anxiety: 96.25% of the students answered that their parents had high hope in them. Also, students’ perfection demand had become another factor (47.5%). In addition, 43.75% needed to depend on people stronger than them, 40% had less self confidence, and 51.25% always delayed important duties.
