  •  Preeclampsia-Eclampsia  (PE-E)  is  one  of  the  major  obstetric  problems  in  Indonesia.  The  main etiology is unknown so that the treatment is still a problem. The objective of this research is to r eport the incidence of PE-E and the characteristics of the women with PE-E in Immanuel Hospital, Bandung. The research method is descriptive, analytical, and retrospective. The samples were taken from some medical record data. The incidence of PE was evident in 2006 (6%), in 2007 (5.67%), and in 2008 (5.08%). On the other hand, the incidence of E found in 2006 was 0.86%, in 2007 0.82%, and in 2008 0.69%. PE was most frequently found in pregnant women aged 25-29 years old (33.6%), whereas E in 20-24 years old pregnant  women  (32.69%).  The  women  had  the  following  risk  factors:  nullipara  (49.2%;  42.3%),  not having  antenatal  examinations  (37.7%; 40.38%), hypertension, proteinuria: +1 for PE (70.5%) and +2 for  E  (42.31%),  obtaining  edema:  +1  for  PE  (70.5%)  and  +  2  for  E  (42.31%).  Infant  state  for  PE  was largely  good  (63.11%)  and  for  E  was  asfixia  moderate  (32.7%).  In  conclusion,  from  2006  to  2008,  the incidence  of  PE-E  in  Immanuel  Hospital,  Bandung  was  declining.  Although  there  were  significant differences  between  the  characteristics  of  PE  and  E  in  terms  of  proteinuria,  edema,  and  the  state  of  the infants,  their  characteristics  had  no  significant  difference  in  terms  of  age,  parity,  education,  and  ante -natal examination.   Keywords: preeclampsia, eclampsia, characteristics
