- Jejer Gandrung ritual preparation is a special ritual that performed by the performers especially the Gandrungs or the dancers before the performance of Jejer Gandrung. This ritual involves the recitation of a secret mantra and several offerings that believed contains spiritual aspects such as spiritual meaning and spiritual expectation. Not everyone realizes the existence of this ritual, therefore the writer wants to uncover this ritual especially the spiritual aspects that contained in the offerings. This study uses qualitative approach in relation to the use of clear and systematic description about the phenomena being studied. Interviews and documentation in the form of pictures and sound recordings were also conducted during the research. The interviews were directed to the maestro of the Gandrung and local cultural expert to obtain the appropriate, reliable, and valid data and information. The results of the study shows that the spiritual aspects which be found in the offerings that is used in ritual such as spiritual meaning and spiritual expectation are the reflection of the spirituality of Banyuwangi people’s life that are unity, harmony, and the sense to respect the others and the ancestors.The writer expects the next researcher to be more focus in the recitation of the mantra to analyze and to uncover why the mantra is secret, the reason to keep the secrecy, and what is the corelation between the mantra and their value.
