  • MudBound is a drama war movie directed by Dee Rees. The movie tells about two Mississippi families, one is black and the other one is white. One of the members of those families builds a friendship between two different races who is Jamie as White-American and Ronsel as African-American. The movie brings out the racism issue by telling the condition of African-Americans in America experienced by Ronsel and his family that get discriminations from WhiteAmerican as depicted in the movie. This movie also brings out anti-racism through the character named Jamie McAllan which is Ronsel's friend. Jamie is the character that precisely treats African-Americans especially Ronsel well. Therefore, this study aims to identify the racism and anti-racism toward African-American manifested by Jamie McAllan in Mudbound movie. In identifying and analysing the data, the writer uses racism theory, movie studies, and also supported by anti-racism theory. It is found that the racism actions were done by the other White-American characters in the movie and there is a portrayal of anti-racism toward African-American manifested by Jamie McAllan as a White-American in Mudbound movie. The personal experiences that experienced by Jamie caused him to treat African-Americans well and fair without considering the race. It makes Jamie different with the other White-American characters by giving the anti-racism actions toward African-American
