- Background: The menstrual cycle is an indicator of a woman's fertility. One of the hormones needed for ovulation is estrogen because it will affect the LH surge. C. Barbata leaf extract has the potential to increase 17β-estrogen levels through ESRa because there are bind affinity between steroid compound in C. Barbata extract with ESRa. Objective: To determine the potential of C. Barbata leaf ethanol extract in inducing follicular development by increasing levels of estrogen and LHR Expression Methods: The experimental laboratory used in this study was a pre and post-test-only control group design, carried out in-vitro Growth (IVG). The sample used was a goat's ovarian follicle. Results: The ethanol extract of C. Barbata contains active compounds of the steroid alkaloid, increasing estrogen levels, and LHR expression through ESRa. The optimum dose of. C. Barbata increase follicle development is the dose of 100 ppm (75%). The optimum dose of C. barbata leaf extract to increase 17β-estradiol is the dose of 100 ppm. The most optimum dose of C. barbata leaf extract to increase LHR expression is the dose of 100 ppm.
