- Sperm would be trough metabolism during in the storage. Metabolic process would produce lipid peroxide reacts with free radicals it was activate Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) overload, and decrease in sperm quality during the storage process. The research that ever did, it was found out the effect of onion extract in AndroMed® diluents to sperm quality. The goal was to know the effect of semen used AndroMed® diluent with the addition of onion extract was 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3% during equilibration and post thawing storage at -1960C. The design of research that used was Customized Randomized Design (CRD) with a nested pattern complete 16 repetitions then LSD test. The research showed were the rate of addition of onion extract provides a significant influence (P<0.01) was motility spermatozoa. Onion Extract Addition 2% (P2) given the best results on post thawing respectively 56.25±5.62% and 48.75±4.28%. Onion extract additional level also given was significant influence (P <0.01) in maintaining the viability of sperm during storage. Percentage of vii viability P2 treatment on post thawing was 80.07 ± 4.64%, 68.12 ±5.73%.The rate of Onion Extract were 2% could keep to increase in abnormalities of sperm during storage. The equilibration and post thawing respectively for 11.90 ±1.22%and 12.35 ±1.13% It was concluded the rate of addition of Onion Extract was a very real effect on semen quality during storage at cold storage. The addition of 2% given the best results in maintaining the quality of semen during storage.
