- The aim of this experiment was to determine the effect ethanol extract of cherry leaf in various concentrations on inhibition ability of Streptococcus agalactiae growth that causes mastitis diseases in dairy cows. The material consisted of ethanol extract of cherry leaf, water extract of cherry leaf, CMT reagent, agar for antimicrobial activity test inhibition ability on Streptococcus agalactiae growth. The method was used in this experiment was Complety Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatment and 4 replication, if there were significant influence would tested by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test method. The results showed that treatment Iodips solution 10% (PK), ethanol extract of cherry leaf 10% (P1), 20% (P2), 30% (P3), 40% (P4), and water extract of cherry leaf 20% (P5) can enhance the inhibition zone diameter significantly (P<0,05) on Streptococcus agalactiae growth with average value of inhibition zone of 5.77-7.02 mm. P4 treatment (40%) had the highest inhibitory zone and water extract of cherry leaf of 20% had the lowest than other treatments. Based on iodips solution the average value of inhibitory zone almost same with treatment of P2 and P3, at 6.63 mm. It can be concluded that cherry leaf extract more effective than iodips solutions and water extract of cherry leaf on inhibition ability of Streptococcus agalactiae growth and can be used as substance for controlling mastitis.
